African Violet Show and Sale

Spring means many things to many people. Here in Ohio, it means a break from the dark wintry days and unreliable temperatures. I’ve seen an uptick in my houseplants. They can sense a change a-coming. And outside, today I spotted my first-of-the-season Red winged Blackbird at my feeder.

Another sign of spring is the beginning of the Plant Sale Season. The African Violet Society of Dayton and the Cincinnati African Violet Club annual joint show and plant sale will be Saturday/Sunday, April 27 and 28. The event is located in the Eastgate Mall in Batavia (think east Cincinnati), Ohio.

This is a great opportunity to purchase growing supplies and very hard to find varieties of African violets and other AV cousins in the Gesneriad family that are grown by club members. Be sure to check it out. It’s best to get to the sales table early on Saturday morning for the best selection. Think you don’t want to drive an hour to Cinci? It is worth your while. We normally have people coming from out-of-state to buy plants.
